What We Do
KIFFWA invests in the development phase of water initiatives with a view to stimulate project development and increasing investment flows into the water sector. Our role is one of a co-developer.
KIFFWA provides early-stage capital and financial expertise to support the creation of viable water investment opportunities and attract (private) providers of finance. Within this range, our services include:
- Direct investments in the development phase of water initiatives
- Transaction advisory services
- Technical support
- Fundraising support
Creating leverage by ‘de-risking’ the development phase

KIFFWA’s unique approach
By providing early-stage capital and finance expertise to lead developers, KIFFWA supports initiatives across several water sub-sectors to reach financial close.
All water sub-sectors are eligible:
- Ports
- Hydro Power
- Drinking Water
- Industrial Water
- Irrigation
- Sanitation & Hygiene
- Waste Water Treatment
- Integrated Water Resources Management
- Flood Protection
- Water Reuse
- Desalination
Besides offering capital during the development stage, KIFFWA’s unique selling point is to bring water-financing expertise to the table: structuring the initiative in such a way that it becomes investment-ready and attractive for different types of financiers.
In order to operate in a financially sustainable way, KIFFWA expects to earn back its investments in carefully selected water initiatives, allowing KIFFWA to be revolving and hence, continue its operations: co-developing other initiatives. KIFFWA therefore seeks a refund as soon as financial close is reached.
