Corporate Affairs Officer
Effie has over twelve years’ work experience in the corporate world. She offers a mix of both business and legal skills with a vast understanding of corporate law, financial services and company secretarial practices.
At KIFFWA she leads the negotiation and structuring of project documentation, to support early-stage project structuring and ensures compliance of legal and regulatory requirements of the company’s various initiatives, while maintaining and safeguarding corporate relationships with external and internal stakeholders. In addition, Effie has been instrumental in broadening KIFFWA’s mandate to incorporate climate-related goals (aligning with SDG 13), and the quest to guide its evolution from a water fund to a water-climate fund by providing specialized legal and policy expertise. Her background in corporate law, commercial litigation, business commerce and governance equips her with a multifaceted approach to project development and risk management. Her proactive and solutions-oriented style enables her to address complex issues, advocate for responsible resource management, and contribute meaningfully to KIFFWA’s strategic objectives.
Prior to joining KIFFWA, Effie worked at Prof. Tom Ojienda & Associates as a Legal Associate, Agricultural Finance Corporation and Family Bank Limited.
Effie holds a Master of Laws Degree (LL.M) in International Trade Law and Investments; Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) degree and a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B Hons) degree, all from the University of Nairobi in Kenya. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, Notary Public, a Certified Public Secretary (CPS), Certified Accredited Governance Auditor and a member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS) and Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
